A computer hacker tapped into the NASA computer system which monitors the heartbeat, pulse and medical condition of astronauts during a Space Shuttle mission in 1997, NASA confirms. The agency denies the lives of the astronauts were endangered, but concedes that the transmission of routine medical information was "slightly delayed". The 1997 incident is being investigated.
