Four members of the most multi-lingual, international crew ever launched into space were at the Show yesterday. The STS 84 Space Shuttle, recently returned from the Russian Mir space station docking mission, comprised one Frenchman, one Russian and five Americans - including one born in the UK, one in Peru and one of Chinese parentage. Jean Francois Clervoy (France), Carlos Noregia (Peru), Ed Lu (China) and Charles Precourt (USA), being so multi-lingual, joke that the STS 84 crew could "-go into any restaurant in the world and order dinner". Precourt showed the audience in the ESA pavilion a bayonet from his military academy that he took into space with him and which he will present to its commander.
