Show-goers weary from hours spent tramping around the halls of Dubai 2000 should stop at the Sicma Aero Seat stand (W322)and try out the French company's latest first class seat. Sicma is demonstrating the seat specially developed for the Emirates Airbus Industrie A330-200 fleet. It features a range of electrically-driven comfort devices, including leg rest and lumbar support. There is also an integral reading light and pop-up "privacy hood."

The company is close to agreement with Emirates on a derivative seat for the Emirates Boeing 777. The airline has still to decide whether to go for a wider version of the first class seat on the A330-200 or an all-new seat.

"They are close to a decision," says Sicma customer engineer Walid el-Ghoz.

Sicma seats are on the aircraft of 100 airlines worldwide.
