Sikorsky could record its first export order of the MH-60 helicopter, if an order from Thailand for six of the type is approved by the US government.
The Defense Security cooperation agency notified Congress of a the potential sale, which includes 14 General Electric T700 engines, spare parts and training, on Sunday. The total value of the order for the MH-60s, manufactured by Sikorsky with systems integration by Lockheed Martin, could be as high as $246 million if further options are excercised. No offset is envisaged and Congress is expected to approve the export to a US ally with no issues.
The Royal Thai Navy has a requirement for additional utility lift to meet maritime defence and humanitarian missions. Thailand already has UH-60 helicopters in its fleet.
