New UK-based airline Silverjet has raised £25.3 million ($48 million) from institutional and other investors, putting it on course to launch low-fare, all-business class services within six to nine months. Chief executive Lawrence Hunt says he is “delighted” with the response from investors which “provides us with the necessary working capital to launch an initial Boeing 767 service between London and New York and to add a number of destinations over time”. Silverjet will offer passengers inclined flat beds, luxury cabin services and fast check-in for £999 ($1,900), with “substantially discounted promotional fares”.
