Japan's Sumitomo Precision Products has chosen Goodrich to supply the integrated brake system for the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) aircraft.
The work, to be performed by Goodrich Aircraft Wheels and Brakes, will form part of Sumitomo's complete landing gear system for the MRJ, says Goodrich.
"Our advanced lightweight carbon brake technology will contribute to the outstanding operational efficiency expected from the MRJ. We look forward to sharing in the success of this new and exciting aircraft, and to the continued development of our relationship with Sumitomo," says Brian Brandewie, president, Aircraft Wheels and Brakes for Goodrich.
Its integrated brake system comprises the main wheels and carbon brakes, the nose wheels, and the fully digital brake control and anti-skid system, says Goodrich.
It is also supplying the nacelle and thrust reverser system for the Pratt & Whitney PW1000G engines that will power the MRJ.
Japan's All Nippon Airways, the MRJ's launch customer with up to 25 orders, expects to receive its first aircraft in the first quarter of 2014. US regional carrier Trans States Holdings has also ordered up to 100 aircraft.
