Singapore Airlines has cleared its Airbus A380 fleet for service after delaying several flights for precautionary checks following the Qantas A380 in-flight engine failure.
Several A380 flights by the Singaporean carrier - on routes to London, Paris, Zurich, Sydney and Tokyo - were held up for six hours or more while the jets were examined.
The checks were advised by Rolls-Royce and Airbus after the Qantas incident which led the Australian airline to ground its A380 fleet.
Singapore Airlines says it has begun resuming flights with the type following the checks. Certain services to Sydney and Melbourne have temporarily been switched to Boeing 777-300s in order to restore the carrier's schedule quickly.
