Singapore and Maldives signed an open skies agreement on 1 July.
Under the agreement, carriers from Singapore and Maldives are permitted to operate an unlimited number of passenger and cargo services between the two countries and beyond to a third point.
They are also allowed to use any type of aircraft to operate those services, says Singapore's transport ministry.
Cirium schedules data show there are three flights per day operated on the Singapore-Male route, flown by Scoot, SilkAir and Singapore Airlines.
The ministry adds that Singapore has signed air services agreements with more than 140 states and territories, out of which over half are open skies agreements.
