Indonesia’s 24-strong fleet of BAE Systems Hawk light combat aircraft are to receive a self-protection system upgrade from Finmeccanica.
Performed by Singaporean prime Aptronics, Finmeccanica’s Seer radar warning receiver will be installed on an initial batch of aircraft for current operations, with an option to provide further systems in future, Finmeccanica says.
In July, Finmeccanica was selected to provide the SG200-D – a UK Ministry of Defence-specific variant of Seer - for the Royal Air Force’s Airbus Helicopters Puma HC2 rotorcraft fleet, replacing the Sky Guardian 200 system previously installed on the type.
It will also be integrated on the RAF’s Boeing CH-47 Chinooks, and has also been used during trials for a recent NATO tactical leadership programme during which it was flown on two Czech air force L-159 light combat aircraft.
It was installed in less than 3h and identified air, land and sea-based threats during the exercise, the manufacturer says.
