Singapore has received a letter of agreement from the US government to join the Lockheed Martin-led F-35 Joint Strike Fighter programme's system development and demonstration phase as a security co-operation participant (SCP). Singapore is expected to sign the agreement next month, possibly during the 24-29 February Asian Aerospace 2004 air show. Singapore's status as an SCP will allow it to formally join the programme and gain a seat at programme meetings.
