Singapore-based low-fare start-up carrier Tiger Airways is seeking to lease or purchase up to 12 narrowbody aircraft as it works towards a launch later this year.

Tiger, which is being established by Singapore Airlines (SIA) in partnership with investors from the UK and USA, is seeking aircraft seating around 150 passengers in a single-class configuration. It says it will consider leasing and purchasing, but if it takes leased aircraft it wants them on minimum five-year terms.

Tiger wants deliveries to start in July and continue over two years. Another new Singapore-based carrier, ValuAir, is to start flying from Changi this year, with two Airbus A320s leased from Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise.
