Cessna is focusing on a new single, high-performance turboprop as the most promising outcome of product development studies to fill the gap between the Citation Mustang entry-level jet and the company's top-end piston singles.
Cessna, which already has single turbine experience through its popular Caravan utility aircraft line, has ruled out any single jet-aircraft developments like Piper's recently revealed PiperJet project. Marketing vice-president Tom Aniello says: "There is always going to be an opportunity for a single-engined turboprop to fill that niche below the Mustang."
