SITA and e-business software solutions provider SAP have formed an alliance to create an application service provider for the air transport industry. The unnamed venture will provide web-based software, infrastructure and support, and will target small and medium-sized airlines, maintenance providers, original equipment manufacturers and airports. The venture will be complementary to and can be integrated with SITA's Aerospan.com aerospace exchange. SITA says it has received widespread industry support for its planned aerospace top-level domain (TLD) "dot-air", designed to establish global standards to allow the industry to exploit internet technologies.
