With one of the youngest and fastest-growing airliner and freighter fleets in the world, Emirates SkyCargo is justly proud of its achievement in contributing around 20% of the airline’s transport revenue - one of the highest proportions of any airline in the world with a similar fleet make-up.

In the financial year 2006-07 SkyCargo recorded strong growth across its entire network to carry around 1.2 million tonnes of cargo, beating the previous year’s record by more than 13%.

Earlier this year, SkyCargo announced that it will be leasing three Boeing 747-400ERF aircraft and these will be serving routes on the airline’s freighter network that now includes more than 25 destinations. Most recently, SkyCargo confirmed its contract with Boeing – initially announced at 2006’s Farnborough air show - for ten 747-8Fs (and a further ten options).

Over the coming years, Emirates will welcome nearly 130 new aircraft to its fleet and the total value of aircraft on its order books is more than $30 billion.

SkyCargo’s current fleet comprises eleven freighters – three Airbus A310-300Fs; five Boeing 747-400Fs; one 747-200F; and two 747-400ERFs. All the –400 freighters have four independently controlled air-conditioned zones, enabling SkyCargo to carry items requiring different temperatures on the same flight, with each of the four zones capable of being maintained at different temperature levels.
