A Cessna 172 Skyhawk crashed last week in the mountainous region near southern Switzerland’s Simplon Pass, killing all four passengers on board. Police say the single-engined light aircraft came down near Simplondorf at 15:40 on 23 August. The Czech-registered aircraft took off at 14:50 from Locarno airport and was en route to Friedrichshafen in Germany. Police investigator Renato Kalbermatten says weather conditions were fine, with good visibility.The cause of the crash is not yet known.
