The Israeli defence forces have received the first Skylark mini-unmanned air vehicles made by Elbit Systems. The mini-UAV, to be deployed by the land forces, is a man-pack vehicle designed for day and night observation and data collection "over the hill" up to a range of 10km (6 miles). It is powered by a quiet electric motor and has a small, light, electro-optical payload with a 1:10 zoom lens. Elbit says eight countries have deployed it for evaluation.
