Astrium says the contract for the UK Ministry of Defence's Skynet 5 communications satellite system is not likely to be awarded until early 2002, rather than in November as was originally planned. Astrium is part of the Paradigm consortium which submitted its bid earlier this year. It is in competition with a team led by Lockheed Martin.
