Swedish regional carrier Skyways has selected the Fokker 100 to meet its regional jet requirement.

Fokker Services, part of the Dutch industrial conglomerate Stork that remarkets the aircraft, has held detailed talks with the carrier and expects a final deal within weeks.  Richard Jacobs, vice-president marketing and sales for Fokker Services, says Skyways will take two aircraft in the fourth quarter, but "its strategy is for the Fokker 100 to become its domestic jet". The Stockholm-based carrier is finalising its selection of aircraft in various configurations from the 50 machines Fokker Services has in storage, Jacobs adds. The airline is likely to take either ex-BMI or former Field aircraft.

Skyways has become the largest operator of the smaller Fokker 50 turoprop regional aircraft and joins several European airlines taking the Fokker 100 for thinner routes. Recent Fokker 100 orders include a 19-aircraft deal with Germania, five for Helvetic, 18 for Jetsco, nine for Austrian Arrows and six for Iran Aseman.
