SLAM ER separates safely in MDC F-18 test

McDONNELL DOUGLAS (MDC) has taken a further step towards the first powered flight of its Standoff Land Attack Missile Expanded Response (SLAM ER) missile, by successfully separating it from an F-18. The SLAM ER's first flight is set for February 1997.

The drop took place at the Naval Air Warfare Center in Patuxent River, Maryland in late August. The separation occurred at 5,000ft [1,500m] at 1G.
