Smiths Aerospace (Hall 4, Stand A12 ) has delivered the first part of the Lockheed Martin C-130 avionics modernisation programme (AMP) software common operating Environment (SCOE) to Boeing in Long Beach, USA.

This software forms the operating system for the mission display processor that is the heart of the C-130AMP avionics upgrade.

Value

In addition to the mission display processor, Smiths Aerospace will also supply further systems with a value in excess of $250 million.

The Flight Management System (FMS), including the communications management unit and the terrain awareness warning system, Multi-function control displays Integrated standby instrument system Flight data recorder/cockpit voice recorder (FDR/CVR) Aircraft interface unit Mission display processor including digital map

John Ferrie, Smiths Aerospace group managing director says: "This is a new and exciting technology where we are providing a truly integrated systems approach for the C-130AMP avionics."

The C-130AMP is in a six-year development programme. Boeing will modify approximately 500 USAF aircraft in San Antonio, with installations beginning 2004.
