Two international teams, Snecma with NPO Saturn, and Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) with Aviadvigatel, have submitted competing powerplant proposals for the Sukhoi-led Russian Regional Jet (RRJ) programme. The RRJ is expected to be launched this summer and an engine selected shortly after. If either of the proposed engines fail to satisfy Sukhoi's RRJ timetable, a ZMKB Progress engine is an alternative.
