South Korea's Minitsry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China's civil aviation authority to permit flights between Seoul's Gimpo airport and Beijing.

Both sides have agreed to permit up to 28 weekly flights, to be operated by the respective designated carriers, starting from July. It will utilise the existing slots and capacity entitlements for the service, says the ministry.

The designated carriers from China are Air China and China Southern Airlines and from South Korea, Korean Air and Asiana Airlines.
