South Korea has delayed its selection of an airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) platform until at least mid-2006. The Korean ministry of national defence says it needs more time to evaluate the Boeing and Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) proposals because some technical data was submitted too late to select a winner this month. Seoul now plans to select either the Boeing 737 with the Northrop Grumman Mesa radar or the Gulfstream G550 with IAI’s Elta Phalcon radar in late May.
