A US government-industry team led by the Georgia Institute of Technology, and including BAE Systems and Boeing, is to qualify silicon-germanium (SiGe) circuits for use in extreme space environments under Phase 2 of a NASA programme. SiGe circuits capable of processing both analogue and digital signals could be used in NASA’s robotic lunar exploration programme.
