SpaceDev has begun testing the hardware and software models of the CHIPSat, being developed for NASA's first University Explorer low-cost, 68kg (150lb) microsatellite mission with the University of California. The CHIPSat launch will be on a Delta II in June from Vandenberg AFB, California.
SpaceDev has designed and built most of the CHIPSat subsystems, including a miniature flight computer, S-band transceiver and transponder.
