Bombardier has launched a transatlantic business-jet version of the Canadair Regional Jet, dubbed the Challenger Special Edition (SE). Launch customer for the 5,560km (3,000nm)-range aircraft is Canadair's Middle East distributor TAG Aeronautics.
The aircraft will be unveiled at the Dubai air show in November. The Canadair SE features 1,820kg of additional fuel in rear-fuselage tanks installed by Maryland-based PATS. This will result in a range of 5,560km with five passengers and three crew and around 3,700km with 15 passengers.
The Canadian company has also launched a cargo variant of the basic Challenger in co-operation with aircraft-modification specialist Pemco World Air Services. Installation of a cargo door will cost $1.25 million and take nine weeks.Transbrazil stake
