Spirit Airlines will continue its expansion at Houston Intercontinental airport, more than a year after it first began service there.
The carrier will launch non-stop service from the Texan city to Atlanta and New Orleans from 1 August, and then to Fort Lauderdale and San Diego from 3 September.
Spirit announced yesterday it will begin Houston-Kansas City service from 7 August.
"We're excited to offer more flights nonstop to more cities from Houston," says Mark Kopczak, Spirit's vice president, network planning. "Since starting service to Houston almost two years ago, our unique product offering has become popular with savvy, value-conscious customers here who appreciate saving money on travel with Spirit's ultra-low fares, optional add-ons, and low total prices that are tough to beat".
Separately, the airline will also launch service between its base of Fort Lauderdale and New Orleans from 1 August.
Spirit will compete against United Airlines on all of the new Houston routes, schedules in Innovata show. It will also compete against Delta Air Lines on Houston-Atlanta.
Spirit's entry on Fort Lauderdale-New Orleans will end the monopoly of Southwest Airlines on the route.
