The regional operations of Swiss maintenance giant SR Technics are to be amalgamated under the management of a new company, SR Technics Group, to aid its push for a "global presence". These activities had previously been overseen directly by SAirGroup division SAirServices.
The regional centres include SR Technics Switzerland, SR Technics America - based in Palmdale, California - and Paris Orly-based SR Technics France.
The maintenance company is also finalising ventures in South Africa, in partnership with South African Airways, and in Hong Kong, where it has a memorandum of understanding to form a component overhaul operation with Cathay Pacific.
Meanwhile, fellow SAirGroup company Swissair is consolidating most of its in-house and third-party pilot and flight attendant training activities into a new subsidiary company.
The airline says the new Swissair Training Centre will become "a leading provider of training services in Europe", and will concentrate on basic pilot and flight attendant continuation training. It will also lease out aircraft flight simulators.
