The Sri Lankan air force is understood, to want to purchase four small maritime-patrol aircraft, equipped with a search radar, a forward-looking infra-red sensor and under-wing hard points. Interest centres on the Pilatus Britten-Norman Defender and the Cessna U-27A. The requirement is in response to a series of Tamil separatist attacks, on naval and commercial shipping off northern Sri Lanka.
