ST Aerospace has opened a VIP aircraft interiors centre in Singapore, aimed at serving customers across Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
The 2,690m2 facility at Seletar Aerospace Park is the region’s first and the MRO firm's second after establishing a similar centre in San Antonio, Texas in 2011.
Capable of holding a Boeing 757, the centre provides services such as design, upholstery and maintenance for narrowbody VIP aircraft, including for the Boeing Business Jet and Airbus Corporate Jet range.
The launch of the facility comes amid the region’s rising affluence, as well as a growing demand for customised aircraft interiors from Asian and Middle Eastern customers, says Singapore’s minister of state for Trade and Industry Koh Poh Koon, who officiated the opening ceremony.
ST Aerospace also announced that it has secured five new refurbishment and maintenance contracts, of which work on two aircraft - an A319CJ and a 737 BBJ - will take place at the new facility.
Aircraft arrivals are scheduled through the first three quarters of 2016. Works include C-checks, landing gear and APU changes, as well as cabin management and inflight entertainment systems upgrades.
“This, along with the strong demand shown at is San Antonio facility, and a steady growth of private aircraft ownership in Asia, are signs that the investment is one in the right direction,” says ST Aero.
