Singapore Technologies Aerospace last night signed an historic deal to establish an airframe, heavy maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Panama.
ST Aerospace Panama deal 250WKay Kok Khiang, president of ST Aerospace and Gilberto Ferrari, administrator of Panama’s development agency AAEEPP, concluded the contract at a special signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, ST Aerospace will take over all four existing hangars at the ex-Howard AFB in Panama. Once commissioned for operations in early 2007 it could eventually employ 1,000 people.
“We’ve been looking to find a suitable location to develop additional maintenance capacity in Central or South America. Panama has a good infrastructure to meet our needs,” said Kok Khiang.
