The UK Post Office is to be congratulated for producing a series of five stamps to mark "Fifty Years of Jet Travel", picturing in chronological order the Comet, VC10, Trident, Concorde and Airbus A340-600.

However, it is difficult to understand the omission of the BAC One-Eleven, the UK's best-selling jet, while featuring the A340-600 rather than the original Airbus, the A300, can only be justified because it may be considered the only "new" European aircraft in 2002. A more complete series would have included US and Soviet types.
