US Federal Aviation Administration and Raytheon officials say Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System (STARS) software has completed stringent tests, allowing the delayed project to move ahead. In tests, STARS met display response time and system throughput performance requirements. STARS will replace ageing terminal radar approach control system, which handles aircraft within 80km (50 miles) of major US airports.
