German manufacturer Leistritz is using Farnborough to display its range of precision-crafted turbine and compressor blades.

The company uses a pioneering electro-chemical machining (ECM) process based on the removal of material by electrolysis.

The process allows for processing both sides of the aerofoil to finish tolerances with no additional grinding or polishing required.

Central to its Farnborough exhibit (H3/D12) is the company's ability to produce unshrouded ‘blisks' (integrally bladed disks) in one set-up using five-axis technology.
