The French city of Strasbourg has refused permission for DHL to build a BFr4.5 billion ($144 million) courier hub at the city's airport despite the fact that it could create 1,700 jobs. The mayor says that "-economic development cannot be achieved through infringing on environmental rules". The announcement follows a DHL threat that it would move its Brussels Airport continental hub operation to Strasbourg if a court ruling banning night flying between 23.00 and 07.00 is imposed.
