British Airways will add a new route to Osaka from London Heathrow next summer.

The IAG-owned carrier says it will begin four-times-weekly Boeing 787-8 flights to the Japanese city on 31 March.

BA has previously operated an Osaka service, but ended it in 1998.

FlightGlobal schedules data shows no airline currently serving Osaka from the UK. BA flies to Tokyo's Narita and Haneda airports from Heathrow, while Japan Airlines and ANA also link the London airport with Haneda.

Fellow Oneworld carrier JAL is to place its code on the new BA service to Osaka.
