One of Russian carrier S7 Airlines’ key shareholders, Nataliya Fileva, has been killed in a light aircraft accident in Germany.
Parent company S7 Group lists Fileva as its general director. She is the wife of Vladislav Filev, the former chief executive of S7 Airlines, who is listed as chairman of the S7 Group board.
S7 Airlines states that Fileva had been an occupant in a single-engined Epic LT private aircraft involved in an accident during landing at Egelsbach airport on 31 March.
Circumstances of the accident “are not yet known” says S7, which has confirmed Fileva’s death.
Investigation of the accident will be conducted by an international commission, it adds, with participation from Russian aviation authorities.
S7 Group’s latest quarterly report, for the third quarter of 2018, appears to indicate that Fileva controlled 82% of the company.
Federal air transport regulator Rosaviatsia's official statistics show that S7 Airlines is the second-largest carrier in Russia, having transported 11.6 million passengers last year.
It operates a fleet which includes the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737 Max.
