Philippines AirAsia appointed Joseph Omar Castillo as its new chairman on 1 September.
He succeeds Maan Hontiveros, who was with the low-cost since 2011 as chief executive before taking on the chairman's role in 2014. She also played a role in the acquisition of a 49% stake in rival Zest Air in 2013 before merging the two carriers in 2015.
Castillo was joined the airline's board this year and previously headed the transport and business process outsourcing practices for Puyat, Jacinto, and Santos Law firm.
“We’re delighted to welcome Castillo as chairman of the board during this period of exciting growth for AirAsia. Castillo brings a wealth of experience and strategic vision to the airline business, and we are confident that the company will continue to thrive under his leadership,” says AirAsia Group's executive chairman Kamarudin Meranun, who is also a member of the Filipino operator's board.
Philippines AirAsia appointed Ricardo Isla as chief executive in August succeeding Dexter Commendador, who returned to his previous position as chief operating officer.
