AgustaWestland is close to rolling out a stretched version of its A109 Power twin-turbine light helicopter, with increased weights, higher power engines and improved systems.
Industry sources say the A109 Power S fuselage is 200-250mm (8-10in) longer than the standard 11.45m-long machine.
The main rotor and rotorhead are similar to the existing A109 Power and the single-engine A119 Koala, but the tail-rotor blades are now composite rather than stainless steel.
The maximum take-off weight has been increased beyond 3,000kg (6,600lb). Previously, the machine has been limited to 2,850kg when carrying passengers and 3,000kg with an external load.
Agusta has installed increased power Pratt & Whitney Canada PW207 engines in the Power S, uprated from the 550kW(730shp) PW206Cs installed on the A109 Power. It is unclear whether Agusta will also offer the uprated Turbomeca Arrius, the other engine option on the standard Power.
