The US Federal Aviation Administration is expected to sign off this week the long-awaited rule governing fractional aircraft ownership operations. Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 91 Subpart K was created more than three years ago by an FAA-led fractional ownership advisory committee, formed to reach a consensus that met the differing demands of corporate flight departments, charter operators and fractionals. The regulations are designed to enhance the safety of fractional aircraft operations while increasing the flexibility of on-demand air charter operators to reflect current aircraft and training technology, says the US National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). The final rule is due to be published by the end of the month, the NBAA adds.
