Sudan Airways will be effectively grounded on 10 November following a United Nations Security Council resolution imposing sanctions, including an air embargo. The council passed the resolution on 8 October after announcing a three-month stay in August pending Sudan's response to allegations that it had aided international terrorist acts, notably an assassination attempt on President Hosni Muhbarak of Egypt.
