Sukhoi’s Komsomolsk-on-Amur (KnAAPO) plant has begun manufacturing its first prototypes of the Su-35 single-seat multirole fighter designed to meet Russian air force requirements. The type – which does not feature canards or thrust-vectoring engines – is expected to make its flight debut next year. The fighter will carry a 300km (160nm) range air-to-air missile and the Russian-Indian Brahmos air-to-surface weapon.
