Russian airframer Sukhoi’s civil aviation division has signed a definitive agreement with the Snecma-NPO Saturn joint venture PowerJet for supply of the SaM146 engines to be installed on the newly-developed Russian Regional Jet (RRJ).
It follows the order by flag-carrier Aeroflot for 30 of the type, which has brought the number of firm aircraft, letters of intent and options to 134.
The agreement solidifies the co-operative framework between Sukhoi and PowerJet, covering development, production and marketing of the engines.
Sukhoi Civil Aircraft chief executive Viktor Subbotin sealed the agreement with his PowerJet counterpart Michel Dechelotte.
Dechelotte says: “This agreement reflects our long-term commitment and relationship with the aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi and is yet another major step of our co-operation and partnership with the Russian aviation industry.”
