Sukhoi prepares S-80 for first flight

The Sukhoi S-80 utility turboprop is being prepared for its first flight in late March, after funding was secured by Sukhoi.

The KnAAPO production plant, based in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in eastern Siberia, is building five S-80s which are set to be completed this year and next year. Sukhoi chief designer Gennady Litvinov says the R20 million ($760,000) required to fund completion of the first prototype and to prepare it for flight tests has been secured.
