Sukhoi is seeking financial backing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to fund development of its Superjet 100 regional jet, writes David Kaminski-Morrow.

The Superjet programme is among a list of projects to be considered by the EBRD board.

Sukhoi Civil Aircraft is pursuing a loan of €100 million ($133 million) to be used to purchase equipment and support the modernisation of production facilities at two plants. The financing will also be put towards launching serial production of the jet.

In a project summary document, the EBRD says the loan has passed the final review stage and is awaiting board approval. It gives the board date as 12 December.
