The tough economic climate coupled with supply chain disruption pummelled Hawker Beechcraft's third-quarter delivery tally. The Wichita-based airframer shipped 38 business jets, turboprops and piston aircraft between July and September compared to 49 aircraft during the same period last year. "We continue to experience lower demand in our business and GA [general aviation] segment due to a lack of confidence in the global economic environment," said Hawker Beechcraft chief executive Bill Boisture.

However, "The primary contributor to the difference in deliveries was supply disruptions that have affected production of the King Air twin turboprop family, Hawker 4000 business jet and piston aircraft, causing deferral of some deliveries that were expected to occur in the third quarter," he continued. Hawker Beechcraft reported a drop in sales between July and September this year of more than $53 million, bringing its tally for the third quarter to $283.2 million.
