A EUROMISSILE Dynamic Group (EMDG) team briefed Swedish defence officials at the end of April on its Trigat Long Range (LR) imaging-infra-red-guided anti-tank missile.

Sweden has a requirement for an attack helicopter, with the Eurocopter Tiger one of the contenders. The Trigat LR is the primary anti-armour weapon of the Tiger.

Sweden is also considering using a missile of this type for shore defence and for mounting on ground vehicles.

Sales visits to the Middle and Far East are planned. "We're within four years of having the missile on the marketplace," says EMDG marketing manager David White, "and we're now able to present its capabilities to the full."

The first test firing of the Trigat LR was carried out on 10 March at the Royal Artillery range at Larkhill in the UK, with "total success".

The Trigat's Osiris sight, which will be on top of the Tiger, has also been demonstrated at the full 8km (4.5nm) range of the system.

"Most specification requirements are being met or substantially bettered," says White.

Tests of the Osiris/Trigat combination, are planned to be carried out, in early 1996.
