Swedish flight services contractor Nyge Aero has acquired Norway's Norsk Flytjeneste to expand its electronic warfare (EW) training and target-towing businesses.

Based at Sandefjord, Norsk Flytjeneste will operate with Nyge Aero Norden as the holding company, although its flight activities will be fully integrated with those of its new parent. The amalgamation brings Nyge's EW training/ target towing inventory up to 16 aircraft (two Learjet 35s, 10 Mitsubishi Mu-2Bs and four Cessna 310s) and there are plans to acquire up to 10 Saab 1050 jet trainers if negotiations with the Swedish military are successful. The Saabs would be modified to carry a range of EW stores and will partially replace Nyge's Mu-2Bs.

Nyge services "special flight operations" contracts with the Greek, Norwegian and Swedish armed forces and the Danish navy. Most recently, the company has secured a three-year EW training/target-towing award from Austria to undertake exercises with Saab Draken interceptors and ground radar systems.
