Saab and Ericsson are to combine their defence-electronics activities into a new joint-venture company. Ericsson Saab Avionics will consist of Ericsson Microwave Systems, Saab Dynamics Airborne Equipment and the electrical-environment department of Saab Military Aircraft. The concern, which has its main interest in work on the Saab JAS39, will have a turnover of about SKr800 million ($117 million). In a separate move, Saab Dynamics is to acquire Ericsson's electro-optics division.
