The first satellite communications (satcom) business-jet installations providing Inmarsat's new Swift64 high-speed data service are emerging.

EMS Technologies' HSD-128 satcom terminal has been flight tested in a Bombardier Challenger 604, while Honeywell/Thales will begin deliveries of HS-600 high-speed data unit in June.

Rockwell Collins says its HST-900 transceiver will be available in September. Swift64 provides 64kbit/s data using Inmarsat's aeronautical satcom service, giving sufficient bandwidth for inflight e-mail, internet access and video conferencing.
